The Museum aan de Stroom (MAS) is a museum in Antwerp, Belgium, that opened in May 2011. It is the largest museum in Antwerp and focuses on the history and culture of Antwerp and its connection to the world, especially through its maritime heritage. The museum’s collection includes some 600,000 objects, including maritime objects, art and cultural artifacts from Europe, Africa, America, Asia and Oceania.
The MAS is located on the Eilandje, the old port area of Antwerp, and the building itself is designed to resemble the stacks of shipping containers, reflecting the city’s maritime history. The museum has eight exhibition spaces and a rooftop panorama offering stunning views of the city and the port.
